Before Yellow Dog software system was implemented, we kept our inventory on an excel spreadsheet. Cost of Goods tracking was not detailed, which lead to many questions once the monthly financials were prepared regarding why inventory costs seemed wrong. Now, we have both a way to track our costs and tools to use to find answers. Any changes in food costs are easily seen through Yellow Dog which has allowed us to price our menu accordingly and maintain our profit margins. Yellow Dog tracks which employee was responsible for counting inventory, which then allows management to follow through on any obvious errors in the counting. Management is able to see if there were entry errors, either in the invoicing process or in the physical inventory entry process. Management can also see if there was an overlap between committing inventory and committing an invoice. My favorite tool is the item history button. Being able to go through all the transactions of one item to see where a problem might have occurred is priceless. The support team is very prompt with responses to system questions, which is very appreciated. Overall, Yellow Dog has made a positive impact on our business with its robust and innovative inventory management.
